🌿 How Tea Became My Compass
Years ago, a single cup of tea led me down a path I never expected. It began as curiosity—what stories could a leaf hold?—but soon became a journey through tea plantations, porcelain studios and calligraphy scrolls. Tea, I learned, isn’t just steeped in water; it’s steeped in people. The artisans who shape clay pots, the historians who decode ancient texts, the strangers who become friends over a shared pot.
This series is an ode to the charms of tea.
Every fortnight, we gather in rhythm with the 24 solar terms, letting the seasons guide our cups. Sometimes, tea takes center stage: we’ll trace how terroir shapes the vegetal sweetness of Longjing, or unravel why jasmine tea lifts our mood during 穀雨. Other times, it steps back—a warm companion as we explore 金繼’s golden scars on broken porcelain, or lose ourselves in the rhythm of a bamboo flute.
What threads these evenings together?
✨ Curiosity: Tea as a key to unlock crafts, philosophies, and untold stories.
✨ Connection: Strangers sipping side-by-side, discovering shared fascinations.
✨ Cadence: The slow, seasonal turn of the earth mirrored in every brew.
You might leave with a new favourite tea. Or you might leave with a new friend who quotes poetry. Both are equally likely.
